“Capsule Toys” Deliver Unique Souvenirs At Asagaya Anime Street

The peculiar shop “Asagaya-Chutonchi”, also known as Asagaya Camp, on Asagaya Anime Street has a lot of vending machines Japanese people call “Gacha-Gacha”. They supply hundreds of rare miniature items – for example, miniature food samples, white-out tape or other useful items, smart-phone cases shaped like Japanese “futon” and other interesting shapes, and all kinds of neat figures and toys. The Gacha-Gacha vending machine is attractive in that it doesn’t cost a lot of money to get a unique and interesting souvenir. There’s also a bit of excitement involved– it dispenses something if you insert your coins but you don’t know exactly what you will get until you open the capsule. It’s a unique part of modern Japanese culture, so be sure to visit Camp in Asagaya for one-of-a-kind Japanese souvenirs!
