VILLAGE VANGUARD KOENJI

Exciting Bookstore and Much, Much More

Village Vanguard is a chain of book and hobby stores that serve as hideouts for geeks, nerds, and other otaku— if you want to go by stereotypes. Simply put, as its own slogan suggests, it is a very exciting store, for all kinds of hobbyists.

The shops are stocked to the ceiling with things like character goods, odd sunglasses, weird masks, watches, mobile phone accessories, unique pillows, and a whole bunch of giant American and Japanese snacks and more! Certain things seem to have no function other than to amuse. And of course on the second floor there are heaps of books, worth checking out especially if you’re fond of Japanese recipes and manga.

The entrance is full of “gacha-gacha” collectible toy dispenser machines from which you can get a collectible mystery souvenir at around 200 yen. At this place, you can find plenty of unique Japanese souvenirs for yourself, friends and family. There many Village Vanguard stores around Japan but only at the Koenji store located on Pal Street can you find limited Koenji souvenirs such as T-shirts, packaged Koenji Psyche Delhi Gravy Beef Curry and Tea!
