AJIMARU

Enjoy Japan’s Northernmost Island’s Ramen Right in Tokyo
[updated November 2022]

At Ajimaru they serve Hokkaido ramen, the style from Japan’s northernmost island known for its delicious seafood, dairy farms, fresh vegetables and more. Hokkaido style ramen is typically miso ramen (from Sapporo), but Ajimaru has 3 different kinds of Hokkaido ramen from 3 different places: Sapporo Miso Ramen, Asahikawa Soy Sauce Ramen, and Hakodate Shio Ramen (Salty Ramen). They are all delicious, but the Sapporo-shiki, or, Sapporo-style miso ramen is indeed the popular choice: with its medium thickness of wavy ramen noodles, pork bone soup boiled for 18 hours, and homemade miso paste, when an order comes in ground meat, garlic, and bean sprouts are stir-fried in a wok and added to the soup for a winning combination. The chashu roasted pork and menma seasoned bamboo shoots are also homemade, as well as recommended gyoza dumplings as a side dish.

There are 10 counter seats, 2 tables for two and a table for four. The shop is located one minute from Asagaya Station, just at the entrance of the covered Pearl Center Shopping Street.
