A Sanctuary for Cats in Koenji

Tokyo is famous for the abundance of cat cafes for cat lovers who wish to relax with some fellow felines. Haikei Neko-sama cat cafe, about a 7 minute-walk north of Koenji Station, is a cat cafe that provides homes and health for cats until they find a new owner. Customers who like the cats may adopt them under certain requirements.

For 1500 yen, you can spend an hour playing and cuddling with the cats here. At the time of this writing there are 15 cats roaming around on the 2nd floor cafe! (The first floor is clothing shop run by the sister of one of the owners, where they sell a lot of cat-related goods). If you feel an hour is not enough, you can extend for 200 yen per 10 minutes, or just go ahead and reserve 1.5 or 2 hours or more at reserved prices. Drinks are included from the vending machine in hot or cold including green tea, black tea, coffee, and apple juice.

Before entering the cafe, be sure to ring the doorbell as to prevent the cats running outside. Then, you will have to comply with certain rules such as no flash camera or disturbing sleeping cats. Then store your bags into the locker storage, disinfect your hands and you are ready to enjoy your time with the cats! These cats are very friendly, and so are the staff, who show true care and love for these kitties, making it all the more welcome. Since these cats are all looking for homes, just coming by to play with the and spend time with them gives them encouragement! The outer space wall also makes a great backdrop for taking photos, so you are sure to enjoy your time here.
