CHADOKORO TSUKIJI

Friendly Staff Assisted Tea Selection

Chadokoro Tukiji is a tea shop located two minutes from Koenji station. It is easily recognizable because its products are exposed to the outside.

The staff and the shop manager are very welcoming as they speak English, and they will let you try many samples. In particular their recommended tea, Sencha, a deep steamed green tea from Shizuoka, is one of the best quality Japanese green teas. It’s very delicious both hot and as a cold, refreshing drink on hot and humid summer days. It costs 540 yen for a 100g pack and 1,080 yen for a 200g pack.

Here you can find many kinds of green tea, which is known to have many benefits for health (helps prevent cancer), and for beauty. The most popular roasted green tea of the shop is Miyako hoji-cha. If you are looking for something different from green tea, they also have a wide selection in tea bag or loose leaf form of black tea, Bancha which contains less caffeine and is rich of Vitamin A, Oolong tea from Taiwan, Barley tea and tea from Sri Lanka, as well as brown rice tea which is sweeter than green tea.

The staff will give you helpful advice about brewing tea, such as the correct temperature and timing. Moreover you will have the possibility to choose among many nice packaging styles for your special souvenir to bring back home. The kindness of the staff, the variety of teas and souvenir packaging make this shop worth a visit, whether you are a tea lover or not.
