Rustic Vibes and Everyday Art

Rozan is a gem amongst an abundance of great antique shops in Nishi-Ogikubo. Located 7 minutes from Nishi-Ogikubo’s north exit and set back off the road, it’s easy to miss if you aren’t looking for it. Opened by ironware artist Fumihiko Oshima over 33 years ago, Rozan has developed a large following due to the quality of the wares he selects and the rustic beauty and atmosphere of his shop. Upon entering you are surrounded not only by the ceramics and other works on display, but by the tools and materials used to make them and the feel and smell of an artisan’s workshop. As a craftsman and lover of art himself, Oshima is knowledgeable about the items he has and the items are not only beautiful, but often useful for everyday life. Rozan hosts a new exhibition every month featuring different artists of varying styles and mediums alongside some of his own works and collection, though new and antique ceramics and other forms of tableware are often the focus. They make for a beautiful way to remember your time in Japan each time you use one of these pieces in your home.
