That’s their slogan, but it’s no lie. With a psychedelic atmosphere akin to that of being trapped inside a lava lamp (one can assume that is what the interior decoration is based on, anyway) you’ll freak out for sure when you go to see some stand-out live bands demonstrating what the Koenji scene is all about: it’s mostly rock inspired by the 60’s and 70’s, with a healthy dose of Koenji psychedelia and avant-garde plus a twist of noise. Owner Kitada-san is strict about keeping to these rock genres, so that not only fans of the bands will come but also fans of U.F.O. Club; so if you like the flavor of this Koenji scene you know you can always expect something good here. Many bands from abroad also come to play at U.F.O. and internationally known Japanese acts such as Keiji Haino, Boris, and Acid Mother’s Temple also play here. In the photos you can see Asagaya Romantics, a local band from the neighboring town.

There’s a very reasonable full alcohol menu (500-600 yen) and soft drinks (3oo-400 yen) at the bar– red wine is only 300 yen! There is no food menu but occasionally snacks are available. On special occasions they have all-night shows until 5am.
