S.U.B. STORE

Used Books, Records, and Indonesian Food All-in-One!
[updated August 2020]

Rock music fans will quickly recognize in the logo for S.U.B. Store the homage it pays to Sub Pop records, as co-owner Andhika, originally from Indonesia, is a big fan of Sub Pop and punk music in general. You can even find some records from Indonesian punk bands here, as well as any other kind of music you can think of. Due to the small selection it’s not a place to search for something you have in mind, but it is absolutely a place to go with an open mind and see what you find.

You can also enjoy a cup of Indonesian coffee here, known for its aroma and delicate taste. At S.U.B. (Small Unique Book) Store in Koenji, there are many varieties of coffee available, but Toraja coffee is definitely the star, if you are looking for a place to start. If you are into alcoholic drinks, Bali cocktail and Indonesian beer paired with Tahu Tempe (a typical Indonesian snack) is also recommended. There are also a number of Indonesian cuisine items such as fried rice, noodles etc., priced for around 700 yen for a lunch set.

Be sure to also check out their record collection available for sale at very affordable prices, which can also be played upon request. Or bring your own records and listen to them there! S.U.B. Store also often holds events like live music and record fairs, so be sure to check their Facebook page for updates. Once a month there is a DJ event for charity with vegetarian food.
