Sukiwa offers a variety of exciting workshops throughout the year. These workshops are a unique opportunity to learn from skilled artists and use traditional Japanese tools, methods, and special materials to create a one of a kind souvenir. For example, in one such past uchiwa fan painting workshop, participants could try a gold placing technique called sunago using delicate gold leaf and bamboo tubes capped with a fine mesh and work with traditional Japanese painting tools and styles. English is limited, so it is advised to bring along a Japanese speaking friend to really get the most out of the activity, but otherwise all you need to do is follow along– after all art is a universal language.

*Please note that due to exhibitions, events, and the instructor’s schedule, Sukiwa may not be always be able to accommodate your workshop request, but you are always welcome to contact them about opportunities. Please also note that workshops may vary based on materials.
