MUCCHI’S CAFE
The World of Picture Books All Ages Can Enjoy
[updated June 2021]
The owners of Mucchi’s Cafe are two old friends, one is in the kitchen and the other serves at the tables. They opened this cafe in January 2016 in Koenji with the idea of creating a cafe with picture books as the theme, helping you take a trip down Memory Lane urging to cast away all worries and take a plunge into those sweet, innocent times when leafing through illustrated books was full of curiosity and wonder. In 2020 they took this concept to Nishi-Ogikubo, where they relocated.
Pass through the door of this Nishi-Ogikubo establishment and you will feel like entering a children’s library with beautiful and colorful illustrated books surrounding you. Divided by themes from adventure to animals, characters and more, this amazing selection of books is the private collection of one of the owners who decided to share her own beloved books with her customers. Actually although children are sure to enjoy the cafe, it is meant as a place where grown-ups can also enjoy picture books, as the concept is “A picture book cafe for adults”. That said, if you bring your children please follow the rules so as not disturb the adults who may relaxing in the cafe.
The menu offers dishes of pancakes, roast beef or Thai gapao-gai lunch, desserts, and many types of hot and cold drinks. If you liked picture books when you were young, this is a great place to relive your memories and spend some time in a unique cafe. Or even take your own kids for a fun meal and enjoyable quiet time.
