Meat and Good Times Across the Board at Horumon Dojo

Just across the street from the Smile Hotel in Asagaya, this izakaya does well to serve not only its local clientele, but also international visitors. Chinese and Japanese speakers will enjoy conversation with the sociable owner while waiting for food, although he is friendly to everyone, even if you cannot communicate well. The interior decor is very simple and will have you feel at home in no time. The sound of sizzling meat and crisp cabbage, combined with the piping-hot bibimbap (Korean mixed rice) is an absolute must-have.

Apart from the usual izakaya foods, Horumon Dojo also has a good Korean menu and specializes in cuts of meat foreigners may not be so used to, including the heart and uterus among other things. So If you’re feeling a little adventurous, be sure to give this place a chance.

*Please note that an “otoshi” seat charge will be added for all customers, but it includes a salad serving.
