NAKAYA
Get Your Made-in-Japan Souvenirs Here, and Learn Some Traditional Steps!
[updated August 2022]
Nakaya is a small shop that sells Japanese textiles, kimonos and accessories that go well with kimonos. The number one choice for a souvenir in this shop would be a wall hanging with a beautiful Japanese pattern (made in Shizuoka prefecture). There are lots of patterns to choose from. For example, cherry blossoms would be a classic and a perfect wall decoration to add Japanese-style to your room. They also have kimono for sale (also lighter Yukata in summer) as well as the complementing accessories such as bags and hairpins, and most importantly, everything is originally made in Japan! So you can be sure you are getting high quality and authentic items here.
Furthermore, there is a workshop on the 2nd floor to learn Japanese traditional dances taught by a professional teacher. So here you’ll find not only shopping, but also experiencing Japanese culture– close to Koenji station, only 10 minutes from Shinjuku on the Chuo Line!
