EDOMARU
Bustling Stand-up Noodle Shop
There is no better way to rub shoulders with the locals than at the curbside stand-up noodle bar Edomaru. Slapped directly on the noisy and traffic laden Kannana Dori Street, this no fuss/no frills tachigui (stand-and-eat) sees an endless stream of truck, taxi and delivery drivers filling up on cheap and hearty noodles, rice bowls and onigiri “rice balls” from 4:30am to 3:20pm, 6 days a week.
Select from a noodle base of udon, soba or Nagoya-style kishimen at a dirt-cheap 280 yen a bowl and top it off with your choice of mouthwatering tempura from the counter display. If rice dishes are more your style, why not splash out on the ‘unagi-don’ at 780 yen or grab a handful of freshly prepared onigiri for the road?
Whether exploring Koenji by day or or stumbling back to your digs at the crack of dawn, Edomaru makes for a delicious feed and very rewarding detour!
