TACHIMACHI

Satisfying Hiroshima-Style Okonomiyaki Fans in Tokyo
[updated August 2022]

Okonomiyaki, which has not yet taken off outside of Japan, is usually called a “Japanese savory pancake” in English. This Okonomiyaki restaurant in Ichiban Gai in Asagaya opened in 2014, and is beloved by people from Hiroshima, a place where Okonomiyaki is as famous as Osaka. Hiroshima-style Okonomiyaki includes noodles in addition to the flour-egg-cabbage +meat/seafood of your choice, where Osaka style does not include noodles.

The line-up of basic “Noodle & Meat Okonomiyaki”, “Tonpei Yaki” (pork crepe with sauce) and “Grilled Beef Sinew” satisfies Okonomiyaki fans in the area. The popular menu both to Hiroshima people and the others is “Okonomiyaki with Squid Tempura topped with Green Onion”. The sweetness of green onions from Western Japan and seafood umami from squid make for an addictive taste. This restaurant is open until 4:00am, so come on down to satisfy your late night hunger and curiosity.
