TICO BAR

“Stand Up Please!” & Raise a Glass or Two for Tico
[updated August 2022]

Experience the vibrant drinking scene in Koenji at this unique standing bar. Tico really sets itself apart with the modern-antique decor and huge bottles of liquor flavored with various fruits and spices. Be tempted by the strawberry, pineapple, saffron, tomato or even red hot chili pepper flavors! If you’re looking for something extra rare and “Japanese”, you can’t go past the bonito and seaweed flavored Katsuobushi-Konbu (dried bonito and kelp seaweed) speciality. Have your liquor straight if you’re feeling adventurous, otherwise we advise mixing with soda.

The drinks are surprisingly cheap and the small 300 yen cover charge includes an endless supply of nuts to keep you both full and occupied. Crack open peanuts and feel free to throw the shells on the floor!
