TROLLS IN THE PARK

The Outdoor Art Festival in Nishi-Ogikubo!
[updated December 2023]

“Trolls in the Park” is the name for the international outdoor art exhibition which is mainly held in Zenpukuji Park in Nishi-Ogikubo, on the western side of Tokyo. Some of the art that is part of this event can also be seen in galleries and cafes around Nishi-Ogikubo.

The art works coordinate with the autumnal scenery in the park, and also you will see various kinds of performances on Sundays and national holidays during the exhibition period. Autumn is a good season for art. Go to Zenpukuji Park and be exposed to art in a natural environment in a corner of the metropolis!

The Trolls in the Park outdoor art event takes place over the course of about three weeks in November starting and ending on Japanese holidays. It starts on Culture Day on November 3rd and runs until Labor Thanksgiving Day on November 23rd.  The art is on display during this time, and live shows and events take place usually on the Sundays and the two holidays during that time. Be aware that Zenpukuji Park has an upper and lower pond, and that all event-related festivities take place at the upper pond.

Every year the event has different theme, and participating artists’ must come up with works of art that is inspired by or somehow ties into that theme. Every year presents different and fresh pieces, even by repeating artists.
