HATTIFNATT

“Fairytale Treehouse Cafe”
[updated August 2022]

Koenji in the Suginami ward of Tokyo is of course best known as Tokyo’s vintage clothing and drinking mecca. However, probably the most remarkable place for people to visit when they first come to the town is the rickety fairytale treehouse cafe, Hattifnatt – a place so cute that you’ll have to crouch your way through the hobbit-sized door and climb a ladder before you can even order your latte! Speaking of ordering, this is done in a very unique manner, by pulling on a string which then rings a bell in the kitchen. We recommend going for the “Ichigo-chan” or “Pumpkin Mont Blanc” cakes for optimal sugary sweetness.

They also have a gallery and make arrangements for parties at this truly unique Koenji cafe. The pizza menu is quite interesting as well!
