WADABORI PARK
Enjoy Cherry Blossom Viewing and Barbecuing
[updated August 2022]
Wadabori Park spreads alongside Zenpukuji River and is a very valuable place where you can enjoy rich nature—something rare in a big city like Tokyo. It has lots of trees and plants and many kinds of birds can be seen here. In the park there is a folk museum, and free concrete barbecue grills that anybody can use are available. Ten grills are installed; to use them you need to make a reservation by phone (Park Office 03-3313-4247). All you need to tell them is your name and the date that you want to use the grill. They take reservations up to one month before. You may have to move fast in cherry blossom season and on weekends as there are usually lots of people on these days.
The best part of this park is cherry blossoms in spring. Wadabori Park has about 280 cherry trees, and the Zenpukuji River Park next to Wadabori Park has about 400 hundred cherry trees. So, altogether 680 cherry trees begin to open their blossoms in late March, usually around the last week of March or first week of April. When they are in full bloom, it is so beautiful that you will be speechless when you see the scenery—a unique treasure, only lasting for a week or so. The park is open 24 hours and there is no admission fee.
