A House Full of Cats in Koenji

Tokyo is famous for the abundance of cat cafes for cat lovers who wish to relax with some fellow felines. Nekoen, about a 7 minute walk north of Koenji Station, is run by a Non-Profit Organization called Little Cats. They provide homes and health for cats until they find a new owner. Customers who like the cats may adopt them under certain requirements.

For 1100 yen, you can spend an hour playing and cuddling with the cats here. There are more than 15 cats roaming around the two story house-cafe! If you feel an hour is not enough, you can extend for 300 yen per 15 minutes. Drinks from the vending machine, serving a range of beverages from cocoa, tea, coffee and many more, are available for 100 yen.

Before entering the cafe, be sure to ring the doorbell as to prevent the cats running outside. Then, you will have to comply with certain rules such as no flash camera or disturbing sleeping cats. Then store your bags into the locker storage, disinfect your hands and you are ready to enjoy your time with the cats! Although some cats can be a little stand-offish at times, tasty kitty treats (provided or available for purchase) can help to make a quick cat connection!
