YAKITORI EBISU

Crowds of Nishiogi Locals Can’t Be Wrong

Alight the Chuo Line train at Nishi-Ogikubo Station and follow the mouthwatering scent of charcoaled chicken to the doorstep of Yakitori Ebisu. With no less than three separate venues intimately clustered together at the south exit of Nishi-Ogikubo Station and a “satellite” location on the north, there’s no disputing the popularity of this Nishiogi eatery that’s consistently overflowing with boisterous locals and those in-the-know.

Arrive solo and secure a seat at the smoke filled counter with the local stalwarts or grab yourself a table for a lively night out as a group. From the sharply priced menu, start with an array of charcoal grilled chicken, pork, beef or vegetable skewers complemented by a handful of tasty izakaya style dishes. The crowd favourite ‘iwashi koroke’, a deep fried sardine and potato croquette, should be at the top of your list if you’re looking to try something deliciously unique.

With an enticing selection of dishes, artisan sake from prefectures far and wide around Japan and perfectly chilled beer on tap, you can’t go wrong with Yakitori Ebisu for that friendly small town izakaya feel in the big smokey atmosphere.
