A Good Sleep on a Spacious Bed Near the Station

Katoreya House Koenji, a guest house very close to Koenji Station, opened in November 2019. It is located about 200 meters from the south exit of JR Koenji Station, headed south on Konan Dori Street, the main road. On your left you will find an apartment house with a ground floor dominated by ramen shops. Take the elevator up to the 5th floor for Katoreya’s reception. The common room for guests, with a TV, sofa, and kitchen, is on the same floor, as well as one large “dormitory room.” In addition there are three rooms on other floors. Up to 4 people can stay in each room, and the guesthouse has 15 beds in total. All the rooms have been renovated and are very clean. In addition to the location, other attractive points of this guest house are that amenities, like tooth brushes and towels, are free of charge, and that the beds are a little larger than the Japanese standard size. This is the idea of Mr. Fukano, the owner, who hopes his guests to spend a very comfortable stay at Katoreya. Fukano-san is a member of the Koenji Awa-Odori Festival Committee. The Awa-Odori Festival is a very famous event in Tokyo, held around Koenji Station every August. So if you are visiting in late August or there specifically for the event, it might be a good idea to ask him about the festival, which parades down the very street in front of Katoreya House.
