IITOCO IZAKAYA

Stylish Izakaya with Delicious Homemade Food
[updated August 2022]

Iitoco izakaya in Nishi-Ogikubo is a different style of izakaya (Japanese pub) than others you would find in Japan. The front and interior is a stylish country style design filled with cute handcraft decorations. Although the appearance is like a cafe it is actually a very welcoming izakaya. Unlike many typical izakaya which are usually small or narrow, there are 4 table seats if you are coming in a large group and counter seats if you are going solo.

This Izakaya is run by two sisters who wished to display their mother’s handmade plates. You will be fascinated by the number of items on the Iitoco menu, from sashimi, stir-fry, salad and even Thai food and over 30 different varieties of beverages. Out of them the stand-out specialty is the Iitoco hamburger, a combination of minced beef and pork added with a generous amount of onions and finished up with homemade sauce. A glass of sparkling lemon soda pairs perfectly with it. Another popular healthy option is lotus root steak, simply grilled with olive oil and served on a cute fish-shaped plate. As the food is prepared solely by the older sister, it may take some time but you can always expect quality in what you will get.
