LOS APSON?

For Underground Sounds and More
[updated August 2022]

Los Apson? This record store is truly the flavor of Koenji. It used to be in Shinjuku for almost 20 years before moving to Hatagaya for 4 years, and in fall 2015 Los Apson finally arrived at what could be considered it’s true home, the current Koenji location. Fans of the underground and experimental music scene will already be very familiar with Koenji due to it’s large number of clubs that feature these types of sounds, as well as the number of musicians in this scene living in the area. So it just seems natural for the record store that sells this type of music to be here in Koenji.

Los Apson? not only sells CD’s and vinyl records of the vast landscape of Japanese experimental sounds such as Merzbow and Masaya Nakahara (AKA Hair Stylistics), but also world music and many other unique styles. Basically, anything that is not mainstream, essentially, could be found here. This is a true underground shop. Owner Yamabe-san is incredibly friendly and definitely takes pride in establishing a one-of-a-kind record shop selling music, T-shirts, trinkets and other subculture items. The store has a really cool atmosphere and you’ll feel comfortable here to stick around a while and peruse the large selection of what apparently can only really thrive in Koenji, Tokyo, and rightfully so.
