In business over 60 years in Koenji, the current owner follows the traditions his grandfather started. A good example is the “Kakiage Ten-don” (Mixed Tempura Bowl) – battered shrimp, squid, and shell fish deep fried and served on a bowl of rice (2000 yen). There are many varieties – see the English Menu for more information. There is a lunch menu, available even at dinner time for smaller portions (800 yen). Order bottled or draft beer (note a 100 yen seat-charge will be added). The mostly counter seats suit the Japanese atmosphere, with a wooden counter that looks like it came from one tree. The owner, although he cannot speak English, is very kind and welcoming. Try Ten-Yone for a traditional tempura experience in Koenji!
