CAFE TERRACE GON

Long Established Omelette-Rice Specialty
[updated February 2022]

Cafe Terrace Gon has been in business for over 40 years. Run by a friendly couple, this is a local Koenji favorite for people of all ages and all walks of life. The cafe was previously mainly a coffee shop but due to the popularity of their Curry Omelette Rice, they quickly became well known as an omurice shop. Omurice is the Japanese name for the Western-influenced Japanese meal of Omelette Rice. Gon has been serving more than 10 different kinds of omurice for over 25 years.

Compared to other omurice restaurants, Gon serves large volume for a reasonable price (around 800 yen) with many varieties such as curry, cheese, hashed beef, and many others. They also have value sets for hungry stomachs, and hamburger or stir-fried beef or pork available as extra toppings.

Another nice feature of this cafe is its old Japanese style coffee shop interior, and they even have manga available to look at in addition to the various relics from the Showa era. If you are lucky you can sit at the old video game table that was a trend in those times. They also have a nice manga library! Take a stroll up Koshin Dori Street in Koenji when you are able to visit, and enjoy the retro style and nostalgic taste of Cafe Terrace Gon.
