MAID IN WONDERLAND
Maid Café, Koenji Style
One thing you should definitely try while in Tokyo is visiting a themed bar.
Maid in Wonderland is a cozy and hidden bar on the second floor along the artsy Azuma Dori shopping street in Koenji, 4 minutes from Koenji Station. As you may have guessed by its name, Maid in Wonderland is a place where guests will discover the famous world of the Japanese Maid cafe where you will be served by waitresses dressed in maid costumes. You will enjoy communicating with them in this surreal environment, and it’s a good choice to satisfy your appetite and enjoy drinking while being served by cute maids.
Prices start at 1200 yen for the first 30 minutes with unlimited drinks (before 8:00pm, after 8:00pm prices are per 20 minutes). Add 500 yen to enjoy unlimited cocktails, or add 1000 yen for craft beers. If you stay longer the fee gets discounted. An English menu is also available. Try their unique items, like “Colorful Cheese Toast.”
What makes this place special and different from the maid cafes that Akihabara is known for is that this café is divided in two, the entrance area being a craft beer bar with a few seats (no entrance fee required) while the backroom is dedicated to the maid café. They offer a good selection of delicious Japanese craft beers, personally selected by the owner.
The combination of a “maid cafe” meets craft beer bar style makes this place one-of-a-kind Koenji experience, unlike anything you will find in Akihabara, or anywhere else for that matter.
