SUBARU OKINAWAN SOBA

Pork Enriched Okinawan “Soba” and More

Okinawan cuisine is especially famous for its delicious pork meat. Succulent ribs and pork belly marinated in a special soy sauce and sugar make the meat soft and rich in flavor.

At Subaru Okinawan Soba in Minami-Asagaya, the main dish is “Subaru Soba”, Okinawan style ramen noodle soup enriched with this delicious pork. Ribs (soki) and three-layer pork (sanmainiku) are soft and full of flavor that will remain among the best memories of your palate for a long time!

Though this Okinawan style soba is their specialty, if you don’t want to eat noodles there are several alternatives such as taco-rice, an Okinawan specialty containing taco ingredients on a bed of rice. You can also order an excellent tasty curry! Sometimes there are special dishes available for limited time. Another recommended dish is called raftero and is a donburi rice bowl with sanmai-niku pork.

For drinks, you can choose between many types of Okinawa Sake, as well as the classic beers of the island. There is no English menu available but since you can buy meal tickets from a vending machine with pictures, ordering is as easy as handing the ticket to the staff. Sometimes an Italian guy is working there as well who can speak Italian and English.

Subaru is a small shop with few seats, but is enough to transport you to Okinawa not only through flavors and smells, but also with the cheerful traditional music in the background and the images of those beautiful islands on the big TV screen. Absolutely recommended if you want to taste the flavors of Okinawa.
