Bouldering, indoor rock climbing, has become very popular worldwide and has been designated as one of the events in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Only one minute walk from JR Ogikubo Station brings you to B-Pump Climbing Gym, where you can experience the bouldering sensation. Bouldering is an activity in which you climb up and over artificial “rocks” on a 4-5 meter wall. On the wall, lots of colorful holds in different sizes are attached to give plenty of options for your climb path.
When you enter the spacious room with its colorful obstacle course-like walls, you might feel as if you were in a different world. Men, women, and children of all ages enjoy bouldering at B-Pump, and the climbing gym has also become very popular among foreign visitors, particularly those from Korea. It’s a great place to make international friends with people who share the same interest.
The above information is for a climbing trial experience. Experienced climbers and those who would like to come regularly will pay a registration fee of 2,169 yen, and then the per-session fee is 1,944 yen (1,080 yen for students). You can rent shoes (216 yen) and chalk powder (108 yen) to prevent slipping, so it’s similar to bowling in that you don’t have to bring your own equipment, however, if you would like some there is a shop where lots of bouldering items are available.
