NARUKAMI (Update: 7/8)
Savory Chicken Flavor Ramen
[updated July 2026]
Located on Kyokai Dori Shopping Street in Ogikubo, Narukami is known for its rich chicken-based ramen, particularly its soy sauce-flavored Chicken Paitan Ramen and Shantan Ramen. Paitan refers to a creamy white broth made by slowly simmering chicken bones for hours. At Narukami, the soup is made without artificial seasonings, resulting in a broth that is rich and full of flavor while remaining surprisingly light and healthy.
One of the restaurant’s signature features is its large sized grilled chicken, served as a striking topping that pairs perfectly with the savory broth. Customers can also add seasoned soft-boiled eggs or chashu pork, and enjoy salted bamboo shoots (menma) as an additional topping.
The restaurant’s gyoza dumplings are another favorite. Despite the affordable price, they are packed with flavor and delicious enough to eat straight from the pan without any dipping sauce. They also make an excellent companion to a cold beer.
The owner keeps the prices reasonable out of a desire to have as many people as possible enjoy the restaurant’s food casually.
