EDOYA SUSHIHACHI

For Some of Asagaya’s Freshest
[updated August 2022]

Edoya Sushihachi, in Asagaya’s Pearl Center Shopping Street, is more of a fresh fish pub than just another place to get sushi. The menu is quite broad and includes sushi, sashimi, many specialty fish dishes and even duck. And yes, they do serve blowfish! You’ll even see them swimming in the large tank when you enter the shop. They also have fried octopus which is a favorite here. Apparently on Thursdays they have a special for extremely fresh sashimi from Tsukiji market (edit: now Toyosu)  for 500 yen! Lunch specials are also reasonably priced. The drink menu is very broad and includes traditional Japanese drinks like Shochu and Nihonshu (served hot or cold), highball, beer, beer cocktails, traditional cocktails, plum wine, wine, and soft drinks with inexpensive options.

The interior is very warm, inviting and is quite large. There are booths for small groups or families, or if you’d like to go alone sit at the very long counter. There is also 1 private room. Just be aware that there is smoking at the counter seats, however the booths are non-smoking. Mondays and Wednesdays are less busy and the sashimi special makes Thursdays busy. There are 4 branches of this family-owned restaurant and the owner is committed to buying extremely fresh seasonal fish, some of which usually can only be found in fishing villages. The menu changes daily depending on which fish are available. Come to Edoya for the freshest seafood!
