Walking out the north side of Koenji station, at the end of Junjo shopping street, you will find a Koenji landmark clothing store called The Gate. It almost has a museum-like quality even if you don’t purchase anything it is worth a visit, but their prices are some of the most reasonable in Tokyo with lots of special sales. The store is a warren of booths to meander through with all sorts of new and used goods with a rock-vibe. Think of it like an old rocker’s general store. They specialize in all sorts of men’s and women’s casual clothing and a few children’s items thrown in like: band T-shirts, jeans, work clothing, military goods, basics and more. But there are many more items like: toys, records, skater gear, band patches, beads, accessories like sunglasses, bags, rings and necklaces, and miscellaneous sundries and brick-a-brack. You should have a great time visiting this Koenji institution.
