NAGOMIYA
A Taste of Japan at a Fresh Fish Bar
Situated just north of the nightlife area Star Road in Asagaya, Nagomiya is the place to go to make fast friends while eating fresh seasonally selected fish dishes and drink nihonshu sake. The owner selects the fish and nihonshu that best fits the season, for example a fish suitable just before the rainy season. The fish is catch of the day and of the highest quality but at reasonable prices. Rather than a set meal there are many smaller dishes so you can eat a variety of different tastes in one sitting, like typical izakaya style. The variety of ways Nagomiya prepares fish is astounding and truly unique, from soups to sashimi to grilled dishes. Why not start with the recommended Red Porgy soup? There are also dishes other than fish available, for example the recommended fried tofu and Chinese leek topped with mozzarella cheese, a perfect savory pairing with a Junmai Ginjo Nihonshu.
The atmosphere in Nagomiya is lively and casual and the interior is a modern stylish Japanese decor. The owners Kohta-san and Yu-san will entertain you cheerfully while explaining about your dishes and where your nihonshu is from, and even detailed information like which rice was used and to what percentage the rice was polished, all which affect the taste and quality of your drink. Other drinks available also include beer, wine, shochu, highball whiskey and sours (shochu mixed with soda).
